A major manufacturer of biscuits in
Pakistan has recently take
n delivery of three new Marden Edwards overwrapping machines. To ensure that its biscuits are completely protected from the factory to the consumer and that the freshness of its products is guaranteed, the manufacturer overwraps their range of tea biscuits.
The presence of the overwrap demonstrates to the consumer that the biscuits have not been tampered with since leaving the factory as well as providing a near hermetic seal to ensure that the freshness of the biscuits lasts longer.
The latest B125FF machines that have been purchased have been set up for three sizes of product, ranging from a small 55mm square biscuit box wrapping at 60 packs per minute up to a wide and tall chocolate biscuit box wrapping at 40 packs per minute. Always noted for its size range versatility, the latest design developments have enabled the running speed of the B125FF overwrapper to increase yet still maintain its low purchase price.
As well as being sold in Pakistan, other Asian markets such as India and China are popular markets for the B series overwrapper. The B series overwrapper offers long term value by offering a cheap purchase price together with long term reliability, size change versatility and high speed wrapping.

Marden Edwards Petri has recently supplied a WR200s high speed wrapping machine for a customerwho manufactures confectionery products packed into flip top boxes.
Flip top boxes have traditionally been overwrapped and sold as individual packs with the use of overwrapping to enhance the appeal of the product. In the case of this flip top box, where the lid simply clicks into place after cartoning, the purpose of the overwrap is to keep the lid from damage and ensure the continued freshness and shelf appeal of the product inside.
The customer specified maximum machine versatility. As well as wanting to wrap the individual flip top box, the ability to produce 2, 3 and even 4 packs collated together was required. As can be seen from the enclosed photograph, special “buy one get one free” promotions use of printed film to convey the marketing message without the need to alter the carton.

Marden Edwards, the world’s leading manufacturer of overwrapping machines, has been selling machines for overwrapping tea bags and loose tea for over forty years. Few machines for wrapping tea were sold in the Soviet Union.
However, over the last ten years Russia and the Confederation of Independent States (CIS) have become a very important tea blending and packing market with annual growth of $ 100 million in 2004 and a total consumption of some 160,000 tonnes per year. Average individual consumption is 1 kg of tea per year.
The growth in the value of the market has come about as consumption increases and the switch is made to higher value tea products such as tea bags, green tea, herbal teas and black tea with additions. To fuel this growing demand more brands have appeared and the emphasis on the quality of the packaging as well as the freshness and quality of the tea has increased.
Tea box overwrapping helps to ensure that not only is the freshness locked into the pack but proof is provided that the tea inside has not been removed and substituted with an inferior quality.
As the market has increased so has the sale of Marden Edwards overwrappers. Machines at all production speed levels have been supplied, from the high end LX, one hundred boxes per minute wrapper to the new, low cost, entry level Evo-Fold.
Every machine in the Marden Edwards range provides the customer with the same high efficiency productivity, high wrap quality and low running cost. In additio
n, every Marden Edwards machine has size change versatility built in by providing for a wide range of pack sizes to be run on the same machine.
At the forthcoming World Cup Tea and Coffee exhibition to be held in June, Marden Edwards will be exhibiting an LX high speed, high versatility tea box wrapper built to the same specification as a number of machines recently supplied to a customer in Russia.
In partnership with it’s local CIS distributor, ECI Limited, Marden Edwards successfully supports and services many machines for tea packing customers throughout the CIS.
